About Randy Millis

I believe local government should listen carefully, communicate clearly and remain accountable to the people it serves.

I’m Randy Millis, a multimedia journalist, advocate and longtime Kelowna resident. My background includes journalism, radio, information technology, community and shelter support work, and approximately ten years running my own small consulting business.

Those experiences have put me on both sides of systems that work well—and systems that don’t. I’ve investigated problems, explained complicated issues to the public, worked directly with people whose experiences are often overlooked, operated a small business, and spent years solving practical technical and organizational problems.

I also bring lived experience of disability and housing instability. I know personally how decisions about housing, accessibility, transportation and public services can affect someone’s ability to participate in their community. That experience informs my perspective, but it does not mean I assume my experience is everyone else’s. Good government starts by listening to the people affected.

Why I’m considering running

I’m considering a run for Kelowna City Council in the 2026 municipal election because I believe we can build a Kelowna people can afford, access and belong in.

What matters to me

• Housing people can actually afford
• Accessible public spaces and transportation
• Practical, humane responses to homelessness
• Stronger food security and community resilience
• A transparent, responsive and accountable City Hall

I don’t pretend to have every answer. I believe elected officials should be willing to ask questions, examine evidence, explain their decisions and change course when the evidence shows something isn’t working.
